Mike is a highly committed and successful consultant. He believes that in the current climate, for businesses to flourish they need to create human environments in which their people can develop and give their best. Businesses need to make the most of their people and need their people to make the best of themselves. Mike’s work is based on a fundamental understanding of the principles of how to create such environments, and how to build effective working relationships.

Mike works in a variety of settings with individuals, teams and groups. He works with individuals to help them understand: what their business context requires of them, how they learn best, how they can maximise their own development and what they do to limit their own development.

Mike is very skilled in facilitating groups and teams. He is particularly interested in working with teams who are already performing well and want to be even more effective, and with teams who are not functioning well. He helps them to: clarify their purpose as a team, create a climate in which they can work effectively, balance competition and collaboration, form communication channels that really work and deal effectively with difficulties, as well as building on successes.
Mike also works one–to–one with business leaders. He helps them: develop the qualities they need for leadership, walk their own talk, encourage others to follow them because they want to, achieve sustainable results and sustain themselves in a challenging role.

Mike has over 25 years experience of development work. For many years he trained and worked as a psychotherapist, both with individuals and groups. In recent years, as well as working with teams and executive coaching, he has taught influencing skills and facilitation skills. He also created the highly successful INSIDE OUT programme, a specialised programme incorporating individual and small group events, for companies that are highly committed to the development of their people.

Mike prefers to work in a sustained way, i.e. where the initial impact of the work is followed up and built on, to create long–term positive change. He avoids ‘flavour of the month’ and ‘quick fix’ approaches, instead enjoys tailor–made interventions for the specific situation, based on tried and trusted principles.
Mike has a passionate connection with African Wilderness, and leads both personal and leadership development trails in the African Bush.
